Project Overview
Kavanagh’s Belsize Park is a premium independent food market serving its local London community, known for high-quality fresh produce, food-to-go and specialist counters.

LMPP Studio partnered with Kavanagh’s to create a distinctive retail brand system that would unify the entire store experience — from signage and fresh food counters to packaging, POS and seasonal campaigns. The aim was to strengthen brand recognition, improve clarity in-store and create a warm, contemporary food market environment that felt both premium and welcoming.

The Challenge
Kavanagh’s needed a brand and visual system that could:

  • Work across a busy neighbourhood supermarket retail environment

  • Unify multiple food categories and fresh counters under one identity

  • Elevate food-to-go while maintaining quality and authenticity

  • Feel premium without becoming intimidating or corporate

  • Scale across seasonal campaigns, packaging and in-store communication

The challenge was to balance craft, clarity and character in a real, high-footfall retail setting.

Our Approach
LMPP Studio took a retail-first approach, designing from the customer journey inward.

We developed an illustration-led visual identity system that brought warmth, personality and clarity to the store while remaining highly functional in a supermarket retail environment.

Our approach focused on:

  • Clear visual hierarchy to aid navigation and choice

  • Bespoke illustration to celebrate food, craft and provenance

  • Distinct but connected visual cues across departments

  • Flexible assets for food-to-go, packaging and seasonal campaigns

Every element was designed to enhance the everyday shopping experience while reinforcing Kavanagh’s position as a trusted local food market.

The Results
The new branding transformed Kavanagh’s Belsize Park into a more confident, engaging and recognisable retail destination.

  • Improved in-store navigation and clarity

  • Stronger brand presence across fresh food and food-to-go

  • A warmer, more characterful food market environment

  • A scalable system supporting ongoing campaigns and growth

The result is a supermarket brand that feels premium, personable and deeply connected to its local community.
