Brand refresh and retail environment design for Old Spitalfields Market — London’s iconic food and fashion destination
Project Overview / Our Brief
LMPP Studio collaborated with the team behind Old Spitalfields Market to elevate one of London’s most recognisable destinations — re-energising its identity, in-market communications and visitor experience while celebrating its rich heritage.
The brief was to create a cohesive visual language that connected independent traders, boutique fashion, and the buzzing food hall under one brand story.
Our approach combined crafted typography, layered textures and contemporary signage systems to create a look that feels both historic and fresh — honouring the market’s legacy while appealing to a new generation of visitors and brands.
Project Overview / Our Brief
In the heart of East London, Old Spitalfields Market has been a gathering place for over 350 years. Today, it continues to evolve — where heritage architecture meets artisan food, design and culture.
LMPP Studio’s refreshed identity captures that balance: modern and energetic, yet grounded in tradition.
From directional signage and environmental graphics to vendor branding and on-site marketing, every detail was designed to make the experience more intuitive, welcoming and unmistakably Spitalfields.

A responsive, hyper-functional design system that creates structure in any format, on any platform. Layout and hierarchy can be restructured nimbly and efficiently. Old Spitalfields Market represents the frame, the underpinning, the substrate that supports and empowers the content, members and communities to thrive.
We use layout, and an exaggerated indent, not just to convey a message but to imply space, creating a flexible floor plan.
